Productive Versus Unproductive Thinking

How much of your time do you spend thinking each day during your waking hours? Most likely, at least 99% of the time. But how much of that thinking is productive? There are two basic types of thinking: productive and unproductive. Productive thinking helps motivate us, reach our goals, and create the life we desire. […]

A Gentle Method for Overcoming Shyness

Shyness is a common complaint, especially among school-age children. But adults can also be shy and find their shyness to be a frustrating barrier to living life to the fullest. You might believe that you were born shy, and there is some science to suggest that shyness is partially hereditary. However, you can learn to […]

Here Is What’s Stopping You From Fulfilling Your Life

The biggest misconception that I’ve ever heard of is that in order for us to find success in anything, we must be willing to give up something else. Whether it’s our career, wealth, relationships, health, something must be given up in order for the other to thrive.

After several years of improving myself, learning about myself, and helping others grow as well, I’ve come to realize that that isn’t true. We can be living a fuller life and there is no sacrifice necessary at all.

As I and others grew, the reality was that several other things were stopping us from living a more fulfilling life. Below are some of the most common issues that you’ll face along that path.

Placing Limitations On Yourself

On the surface, limitations are the things that stop you from achieving something. However, digging deeper, limitations are also the things that keep you restricted in the same life cycle.

You’ll keep facing the same problems, forced to make the same choices, and perform the same actions repeatedly. They define your current circumstances and to that extent define your quality of life.

You can break free from that by taking four steps:

  1. Look for a hidden opportunity. We tend to focus on the negative when faced with a challenge or a setback. The thing is, that’s life! Train yourself to think about opportunities instead.
  2. Plan your progression stairway. It’s essentially finding your North Star. It’s the greater goal that you’re looking to achieve that allows you to set smaller goals on the path you wish to take.
  3. Invest by energy, prioritize by time. I created a Breakthrough Framework which is essentially that. The idea is to avoid distractions or scattered efforts and invest in your energy (to help you focus on what matters), and your time (to help set priorities, deadlines, and take action).
  4. Make a self-sustaining engine. Everything we do is connected. Most breakthroughs aren’t one-offs. Keep using this system and building on it as you’ll face more challenges and obstacles that this system can help you overcome. One great addition is a feedback loop which I consider a tool to learn fast and master any skill.

Not Understanding Your Life Aspects

One piece of advice I’m sure you’ve heard is that you need to be working smarter rather than harder. It’s a simple piece of advice, but it’s not always clear cut how to be working smarter.

It wasn’t until I brought myself to burning out mentally and physically that I started to understand how to be working smarter. I discovered this early in my career and developed two concepts: life aspects and Life Multipliers. If you can equip yourself with these Life Multipliers, you’ll excel in these life aspects (a.k.a living a Full Life).

I’ve developed the Full Life Framework to help people live up to their potential. In the Full Life Framework, I’ve identified 6 life aspects that you need to recognize and leverage from. You’ll also need to strike a balance between all of these aspects too. If you neglect one, it creates a domino effect that hampers everything.

Case and point, when I burnt myself out, my health dropped. As a result of trying to recover, I lost all energy and motivation in pursuing my career. This declined my self-confidence and my creative abilities.

As such, the 6 life aspects are as follows:

  • Physical health
  • Family and relationship fulfillment
  • Work and career prosperity
  • Wealth and money satisfaction
  • Spiritual wellness
  • Mental strength

From those life aspects comes core skills. I consider enhancing these core skills as Life Multipliers and ways to transform your life. If you want to learn about these core skills, just check out my courses at the Lifehack Academy.

At the same time, when you lack these aspects, they serve as barriers that keep you from living the life you want.

Lack Self Control

One of those barriers is a lack of self control.

It’s common as we all have some aspect about ourselves that we don’t like. Maybe you’re someone who drinks a lot of alcohol or smokes. Maybe you have a large sweet tooth and can’t help yourself from munching on those things. When you have a lack of self control, those habits are going to remain with you until you find some way to remove them.

Some people have tried stopping the habit, but I find it’s better to find a replacement habit instead. For example, if you tend to drink a lot of alcohol, train yourself to order water or fruit juice. Repeat this for a month or so and you’ll find you’ll prefer ordering those items instead.

Lack Confidence

Imagine being told something devastating the next day that puts all your effort to waste. Your job being replaced or maybe a loss of a major client. Many people aren’t expecting those kinds of things to happen and are likely to feel shocked, or angry at the situation.

While we shouldn’t bottle up our own emotions, it’s key to learn how to manage your own emotions about our situation and what needs to be done to get to where you want to go.

I say this because events like these happen all the time and the emotional backlash can lead to you losing confidence in certain areas. You may never build another business if your first one crashed and burned for example. That is until you “snap out” of that negative emotional state and begin looking for a way forward.

As soon as you focus on positive actions and positive emotions, you build yourself up and can tackle new situations with more confidence in yourself.

Lack Learning And Adaptability

Our ability to come up with creative solutions for our problems stems from our ability to learn and adapt. If you’re not learning anything, you’re not progressing.

Leonardo da Vinci once said: “Learning never exhausts the mind.” and I believe it. Make a habit of learning something new every day. This keeps your mind fresh and active and can make you a more open-minded individual.

Final Thoughts

When you get stuck on something, you are never truly stuck. It means that what you are currently doing isn’t enough to get you over the next barrier. You don’t have to be working hard to overcome that barrier, rather change your thinking in how you’re approaching the problem.

Through the methods above, you’ll be able to overcome several obstacles that life throws at you. Give it time and keep working at it.

The Magic of Turning Negative Thoughts into Goal-Achieving Actions

Contrary to popular opinion, only thinking positively can prohibit you from achieving your goals - no matter how nicely you've displayed them on your vision board.

How so? Absolute positive thinking trains the mind to begin believing we've already achieved our heart's desires - sapping our energy, reducing our efforts and impeding the work required to reach a goal. In short, thinking positively on its own isn't enough to make our pursuits successful; a monitored amount of negative thinking is needed.

But don't just take my word for it, Gabriele Oettinger, a Professor of Psych at NYU and author of the critically acclaimed 'Rethinking Positive Thinking: Inside the New Science of Motivation', draws on 20-years of research to conclude that whilst it's great to have positive aspirations, you'll need a good grasp of reality to be successful.

How Can We Be More Successful in Meeting Our Goals?

Firstly, you need a goal, a clear and measurable idea of what you want to achieve. That's the positive part! Now you need to acknowledge your internal obstacles, taking time to recognise where you might falter (the negative zone). Next, you need to take that honest information and create actionable plans for how you'll overcome your obstacles.

It's a process known as mental-contrasting, a visualisation technique of taking a desired positive future outcome and contrasting it with the perceived challenges you believe you'll face. Critically, you need to ensure you create your own personal 'hurdle jumping' plans for mental contrasting to be effective and purposeful. These are the plans that will push you past the goal line.

Mental Contrast Like a Pro With WOOP

WOOP is a science-based mental strategy enabling us to guide and amend our behaviours in more helpful ways. It stands for Wish / Outcome / Obstacle / Plan and can help you achieve success in key areas of your life. Whether that's nurturing relationships, doing better in your career or becoming healthier, this process can help.

Plus, this technique allows us to strengthen our mental association, helps us address our fears, increase our energy levels and ultimately perform better. Sounds good, right?

How to WOOP well

WOOP takes a maximum of 5-minutes to complete on your own. So try to be somewhere with minimal distractions — although as you get more practised at this, you can do it virtually anywhere.

  • First, think of something you want to achieve — ask yourself, 'What is my dearest wish?' Visualise it. Try to formulate it into a short sentence in your mind.
  • Next, think about the best possible outcome of achieving your wish — it may be an emotion or an exact result. Let your mind indulge in this part; let yourself feel good about it.
  • Then switch gears, ask yourself, 'What will hold me back from achieving this? What could stop me?' Is it self-doubt? Or procrastination? Maybe an unhealthy urge? Or something someone once said? Dig deep on it, be honest with yourself.
  • Finally, consider the obstacles you identify, ask yourself, 'What can I do to overcome them?' Think about when & where you expect to encounter them. Formulate an if/then plan for each obstacle.

Building Plans For Success

Developed by Professor Peter Gollwitzer at NYU, an If/Then Plan is a simple way to implement your goal intentions. The basic structure is this: If {situation} Then I will {behaviour}.

For example, If WhatsApp messages distract me from my work, Then I will mute conversations for 1 hour to focus. Or, If I'm at the store and I'm tempted to pick up something unhealthy, Then I'll bypass the aisles where the temptation lies.

Yes, this technique takes mental effort but works by triggering automatic processes that help push you through. You're training yourself to recognise obstacles as they appear which then alerts the already created links in your brain to say, 'Oh, there's that obstacle I thought about; this is what I need to do now.'

Encouragingly, through Oettinger's studies, participants became significantly more motivated to quit smoking, lose weight, get better grades, sustain fulfilling relationships and negotiate more effectively in business situations.

Rethinking Positive Thinking

I appreciate for some, this approach goes against popular opinion that thinking positively and blocking out negativity is the only way to go. Calling this practice' obstacle identification' rather than 'thinking negatively' may be a more helpful way to frame it.

Regardless, what matters most is the acknowledgement that utilising a purposeful amount of this type of thinking helps add energy, motivation and effective solutions to the pursuit of your goals. Now, that sounds like a pretty positive approach, doesn't it!

I Hope You Know Your Worth

I hope you know how much you are worth. I hope you know just how beautiful your soul is. I hope you know how much you have to offer. I hope you know just how golden your heart is.

We need to stop asking ourselves if we are good enough for others. We need to normalize asking ourselves if others are good enough for us. Some people take us for granted for their own selfish ways. Some people cannot see what they have in front of them. Some people just do not deserve a spot in our lives, no matter how badly we want to keep them there. Those people could never see your worth. That has nothing to do with you at all. It is truly their loss.

I hope you know how much you matter. I hope you look in the mirror and be proud of the incredible person you are. I hope you never let anyone break your loving spirit. I hope you never let anyone tell you that you aren’t worth it. You are worth everything and more. You deserve so many beautiful things. Never let anyone tell you any different. Know this. Believe this. You are worthy of everything. You deserve to be happy on every single level. Always keep shining like you do. The world needs that sparkle.

I hope you never let anyone ever underestimate you. I hope you never let anyone stop you from going after your dreams. I hope you never let anyone tell you that you can’t be successful. I hope you never stop dreaming. Whatever you want, whatever makes your soul happy, do just that. You can do anything. I hope you stand tall with a sense of pride. The mountains blocking the way will never stop you. You will climb that mountain. You will make yourself proud. You will be amazed with how far you’ve come.

I hope you believe these beautiful words that I am writing to you. Everything is true. I hope you know that you deserve to strive. I hope you know how much love you have within you. I hope you keep shining bright. I hope you find someone who values you. I hope you never let anyone play with your heart. I hope you never let anyone play with your emotions. I hope you never let anyone give you false hope. I hope you continue to walk forward. I hope you know how much you truly deserve. Never let anyone make you feel unworthy. I hope you gain the courage to walk away from what is hurting you. I hope you know that you are stronger than what you think. I hope you continue to be the amazing person that you are. You are worth more than gold.

What Comes Before The Grand Finale Is The Best Part

We are a society that’s fixated on the finished product, the grand finale, the happy ending. No matter what it is we’re undertaking, we want to sprint past every conflict, every roundabout encounter, so that we can cannonball right to the glory.

What we don’t realize is that by rushing to the ending, we are omitting our beginning and middle. We’re hindering our own growth by coercing our heart into changing phases long before it’s ready. By forsaking our appreciation for process and trying to skip over it, we’re also forsaking our appreciation for life and trying to skip over that as well. And we all know what comes at the end of human life. This essentially means that we’re running full-speed towards death. Do we know any other species that wish their lives away quite like we do?

Michelangelo did not just skip right to sculpting bodies out of marble blocks, he spent many years studying human form – which he often referred to as the physical representation of the soul. Mozart is another Great who considered composition an active process. In a letter to his father he once wrote, “You know that I am, so to speak, plunged into music,—that I am occupied with it the whole day,—that I like to speculate, to study, and to reflect.” John F. Kennedy understood the inner-workings of process when he told the American people, “Peace is a daily, a weekly, a monthly process, gradually changing opinions, slowly eroding old barriers, quietly building new structures.” It comes down to the simple notion that success is a journey rather than an event, similar to healing, and of course, life itself.

Before writers can breathe life into their characters, they must either study the topics in which they desire to write about or they must already be experts. From this phase, they begin an outline, sometimes multiple. And then the drafting phase begins, and for some, it never truly ends. Learning to fall in love with the graduality of process is how we become Greats ourselves. It’s how we turn mediocre into magnificent, elevator music into epic symphonies.

We all are capable of greatness, but we become so enamored with the end result that we forget about the labor of love required to bring it to fruition. Even as consumers we lost the ability to fully savor beautiful pieces of literature, works of art, musical compositions, or architecture. The worst thing about shortcutting our creative processes is that not only does it do our final product a disservice, but it robs us of our time in the classroom. Learning comes from process, learning is how we improve and improving is how we master.

True beauty and wisdom cannot be fast-tracked and they demand the sort of lessons that make us modest and malleable. Whatever project it is you’re working on, give it your undivided attention. Take each step with mindful purpose. And most importantly, take your time. Anyone can create something out of nothing overnight, but it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s going to be of any value. It most likely won’t have a major impact on the state of the world or be mentioned in any history books. We all have a chance to create a lasting legacy, some come in the form of our children, others in our careers or inventions. Let yours speak to humanity long after your last breath.

I beg that you give your creation the space it needs to evolve over time. If you do, you will one day wake up to find that you evolved right along with it.

Your Body Is Talking—Are You Listening?

What if you could create a totally new way of being with your body, a way of communing and caring for it with kindness and ease? And what if, in turn, your body became healthier and had more energy and zest than ever before?

After exploring this for over 20 years, I know, without a shadow of a doubt, that we all have the ability to create and nourish a two-way relationship with our bodies. It begins when we open a line of communication by asking questions and truly listening to what our bodies have to say.

Here’s the thing: Your body knows what it requires to be happy, healthy, and radiant. The problem is, we live in a world which prizes the mind and intellect, a world which barely acknowledges the energetic language and potency that our bodies use. As a result, even those among us who have appreciation for our bodies can still become cut off from the connection that’s available to us when we simply pause … and pay attention.

I call this Body Whispering, a way of reawakening the energy healing capacities many of us harbor. That journey begins by being open to a new way of being with our own bodies, and that’s what I’d like to invite you to try today.

Let’s look at how we can begin this process.

Recognize that energy is your body’s first language — and it’s yours too.

The language of energy is quick, instant, and natural. It also takes a little practice to tune in to, in the same way it would if you were suddenly exposed to a new spoken language you’ve never heard before. The difference here is that you already know the language of energy—it is our first language, the one we used before we had words. Once you start to recognize it, your understanding accelerates.

How you ‘hear’ information from your body is an individual thing, so I can’t tell you exactly what to expect. Notice I said hear; a more accurate term might be receive or perceive. The trick is to not overthink it. Be curious, be open, and practice tuning into this inner awareness you instinctively have.

Begin by asking your body a question.

Your body has a point of view about everything that concerns it, including the food it eats, the clothes it wears, the way it moves, and who it’s intimate with. So it makes sense to ask for its input, don’t you agree?

To begin experimenting with this concept, the next time you sense hunger, ask, Body, what would you like to eat right now? You can ask this out loud or to yourself; your body will hear you either way. Then take a second and see what response you perceive. Be as open as possible and do your best to keep your opinions out of it! Because you WILL have an opinion on this — and a ton of judgments and ideas about what’s right or wrong for your body to eat. Simply trust and allow your body to choose. It knows exactly what it requires to be nourished and satisfied.

Here’s another fun way to practice listening to your body: When you’re picking out what to wear in the morning, ask, Body, what would you like to wear today? Then look in your closet and let your body choose. When you first start playing with this, you might be surprised by your body’s choices. You also might not agree with your body’s choices! Again, it’s a matter of trust.

Understand that your choices about what to eat or wear are based on judgments and ideas about what’s right, wrong, good, or bad for your body. They’re the product of a lifetime of being told which foods are healthy and what kind of clothes you’re permitted to wear for your body shape.

Your body might not agree with you!

The challenge: Try both of these experiments for the next three days. When you sense hunger, ask your body what it would like to eat. When you’re getting dressed for the day, ask your body what it would like to wear. Also, ask what it would like to wear at the end of the day as well!

When you start making choices based on what your body actually feels good in, you’ll notice a difference in energy levels, health, and just the general ease and flow of life.

Expand it with gratitude.

It’s well documented that gratitude has the ability to enhance every area of our lives. When we show gratitude to our loved ones, they love us more freely. When we slow down and appreciate the world around us, we see more and more beauty. It’s the same with our bodies: every time you perceive information from your body, show your gratitude. Say, Thank you so much, dear body, for sharing that with me. Thank the connection you’re building. And thank yourself — for being so open-minded and treading a new path!

Maintain your new connection.

The more you practice, the more you’ll pick up on what your body requires. Please know there are no right or wrongs here — only interesting choices. Listen with openness. Don’t assume. Never judge. Stay open and aware.

Expect to be surprised. Expect to be delighted. Expect insights that go beyond the thinking mind. You’re reawakening a connection — and once that channel is reopened, you’ll find life and living flows more easily. Your body will thank you for this, I promise.

Why Your Fear of Success is Holding You Back

Fear of success? Fear of failure is something we can all understand, but fear of success? It might sound a little funny, but many people fear success even if they don’t realize it. It’s Time To Stop Resisting Change

The root chakra is about feeling safe and secure within yourself and within the world. The feeling of safety and security is something we’re taught is good from a young age, and the way to this feeling is through routine and sameness. We miss seeing that the consequences of striving for this is that the fear of change then sets in, indirectly or directly to counter this feeling of safety. To be safe, we cannot have change.

The problem with this mindset is that we then spend our lives trying to control everything so that we do not have change, and we do the opposite of what we’re supposed to be doing. We spend so much time trying to believe in these words “Have faith” or “Trust the Universe” or “Everything works out as it should,” yet in us trying to force the routine and force the feeling of safety, we show that we believe none of it. When we’re presented with a situation that is out of our control and brings about so much change, we fight against it and think of every reason why the change shouldn’t happen. We question the Universe. We question why, if we have so much faith and question, and why, if we followed everything correctly in order, is this happening to us? Ultimately, though, when change happens, that’s when it’s the test we’ve been asking for to see if we really do trust or if we really do have faith.

What we do not see and what we do not understand is that change is a part of living. We cannot say we’re living if we do not go through change. Change is what leads to growth, what leads to feeling alive, and what leads to showing us what we absolutely appreciate in this world. What change also does is help us see what we’ve taken for granted in our lives filled with routine. As we go through the process of reflection and introspection and as we stop resisting the change, we are taught to learn about what is important to us.

The real way to feel safe is to not resist change and to not fight it. It’s to take the time in the course of change to learn what you want and to make the choices towards that wanting. It’s to feel all the feelings and to allow those feelings to lead you towards the right choice for you.

Change is what reminds us to live life, to actually live and not just mechanically go through it. It comes at times when we need a shake-up, when we’ve become too complacent or too comfortable or when we’re in the zone of taking things for granted.

When life happens, it’s when change happens. It’s the time to have faith and to have trust. And if we have this view, if we know this in our minds and feel it in our hearts, then we will be safe. We will know that the change is there to help us be who we’re supposed to be and lead us on the path we’re supposed to be on.

5 Out Of The Ordinary Ways Yoga Keeps You Fit

Yoga does feel good; there’s no doubt about it. But the best thing is, it doesn’t only feel good but has tons of health benefits.

From building stamina to dealing with stress and depression, yoga can be the best friend to save your day.

If you haven’t tried yoga yet, you’re missing out on something really interesting.

The article contains 5 out of the ordinary ways yoga keeps you fit.

Let’s get off the ground:

1.  Yoga Releases Stress

Not many people know about it, but yoga can release stress by promoting relaxation.

As far as scientific studies are concerned, yoga decreases cortisol secretion, and cortisol is the primary stress hormone.

Once cortisol secretion is controlled, issues like stress, depression, anxiety, and fatigue will automatically be taken care of without medication (in severe cases, medication will be needed).

Stress is directly linked to brain functionality, so people who do yoga regularly can significantly increase their brain performance.

Pro Tip: Try use with meditation, and you will make yourself alleviate stress without any hassle.

2.  Yoga Builds Muscle Strength

It’s a wrong perception that muscles can only be built by lifting dumbbells. The job can be done ingeniously with the help of yoga.

Yoga encourages you to carry and hold your body weight. That’s how the entire body muscles can be built in the best possible manner.

There are some styles of yoga, such as ashtanga and power yoga which require strenuous physical activity. We suggest you practice one of these two styles to achieve the muscle strength you’ve been striving for.

Even the less vigorous yoga styles like Iyengar or Hatha can be practiced to provide the body with strength and endurance benefits.

Traditional workouts and weight lifting tactics will only provide strength to certain body organs like arms, chest, etc.

However, the usefulness of yoga has no boundaries as it will provide strength for muscle and bones for a complete body’s functionality.

3.  Yoga Builds Stamina

The more you work out – the better your stamina will be.

One of the many benefits of yoga is that it increases stamina without compromising your health.

Have you ever tried yoga? If yes, you must be aware of the fact that it demands the body to be moved in various directions that not only increases mobility but strength and stamina as well.

To achieve optimal fitness, you need to have endurance and steadfastness, and guess what? Both of them will be achieved as a result of yoga.

You can use yoga ring to perform daily exercises inside your place without going to a fitness center.

That’s how you can build your strength and stamina without losing your comfort. Easy-peasy.

4.  Yoga Improves Heart Health

Heart’s health defines the overall health of the body, and that’s the reason you cannot ignore this vital organ – no way.

Yoga is linked with decreasing heart-related issues by improving heart health.

A study was conducted where people over 40 years of age are encouraged to do yoga for 5 years. As a result, their blood pressure had reduced, particularly compared to those who didn’t practice yoga.

One of the major causes of heart disease is blood pressure, and yoga can helps circulate blood all around the body uniformly.

Lowering blood pressure will make you get rid of heart-related disorders, which is why yoga can be the best option to achieve desired blood pressure.

Yoga, along with lifestyle and dietary modifications, can help deal with stress and other such issues that may lead to heart failure.

5.  Yoga Reduces Chronic Pain

Right now, millions of people are fighting with chronic pain due to plenty of reasons like an injury or arthritis.

Rather than going for medication or painful surgeries, how about you try yoga to eradicate this particular issue?

According to a study, it is proved that yoga can fight the body against chronic pain more ingeniously compared to wrist splinting.

Whether you have osteoarthritis of the knees or have any other chronic pain, better bring yoga into your daily routines to let the magic happen.

However, you need to talk to your physician to make sure you can make your body rotate in various directions depending on the severity of a disease.

Wrapping Up

We have many types of yoga, but you need to be sure about your physical state before you go for a particular technique.

People generally do yoga to keep themselves fit, but it’s a lot more than just fitness because of having various health benefits.

We hope you have enjoyed reading the article, and it has helped you understand why to bring yoga to your routine to be healthy physically and mentally.

5 Paths To Your Happily Ever After

You’re bossy and you talk too much. Does that sound familiar? I heard those phrases often as a kid, but here’s the thing: I’m not bossy. I am the boss. I’m a leader with a lot to share, and so are you.

I’m a mom, stepmom, wife, healthcare quality consultant, and author. I’ve also struggled with debilitating anxiety, a chronic illness (Lupus), and authenticity issues for the greater part of my life.

Several years ago, when I was deep in my divorcee-single-mom life, I grew tired of not living the life I dreamed of. I knew I needed to make a change. I stopped letting fear hold me back. I’ve since remarried, formed a blended family, and found success in pursuing my lifelong dream of becoming a published author. I’ve created my version of happily ever after. It didn’t happen overnight. I had to make changes to my thoughts and my actions. There were five paths to happily ever after that worked for me. I hope they work for you, because let’s face it: being you is pretty damn great.

Path 1: Reframe how you talk to yourself.

How you talk to yourself will set you up for either success or failure. Life is too short to be mean to yourself. Reframe the negative self-talk. Remember that you’re not bossy; you have leadership skills. You don’t talk too much; you’re not afraid to speak your mind. You’re not demanding; you know what you want. You’re not dramatic; you’re expressive and passionate. You’re not oppositional; you advocate for different perspectives. You’re not stubborn; you’re determined.

Path 2: Start saying no.

Give yourself the permission to say no to invitations, people, and things that rob you of your peace. Say goodbye to the toxic individuals bringing negative energy into your life. You know who they are. Pro-tip: You don’t owe anyone an explanation for how you’re living your life.

The sooner you let go of everything and everyone holding you back, the sooner you can make the pursuit of your goals and dreams a priority. Your time is your most valuable commodity. You don’t owe it to anyone. Spend your time with people who bring positivity into your life. That positive energy will propel you forward towards success.

Path 3: It’s never too late to pursue a new dream

I didn’t pursue my dream of publishing a book until I was in my late 30s. Yet here I am, a published author. You can accomplish your dreams too.

So often, we let fear get in our way. The fear of failure, and the fear of what other people might say, is what kept me from pursuing my dreams for far too long. When I finally took a leap towards pursuing my dream, I was overwhelmed by the support I found in unexpected people. I was also surprised by the lack of support I received from, you guessed it, unexpected people. It’s a true qualifier of who has your back and who doesn’t. I’m grateful for that lesson.

You may fail, but so what? At least you tried! Remember to reframe. What if you succeed? How amazing would that be? Give yourself the opportunity. We are all capable of amazing things.

Path 4: Visualize your highest self and start showing up.

Who did you want to be when you were a kid? You know, the person before the world told you who to be? Get back to that person. Start showing up for that little kid who dared to dream. Make them proud!

Start asking yourself if your daily habits are getting you closer to your goals. If they aren’t, it’s time to make some adjustments. Your daily routines should support the life you are trying to create. Visualization is a powerful tool. Picture your best self and have the courage to be that person.

Path 5: Start before you’re ready.

We all have to start somewhere. Let’s face it, if you wait until you are ready, you’ll never get started. Again, it’s that fear kicking in telling you to do one more Google search, to sleep on it, or to ask one more person for advice before getting started. Silence that voice in your head filling you with self-doubt.

Ask yourself who or what you wanted to be when you were younger. What fears are holding you back from pursuing that dream? What negative self-talk can you reframe? What habits can you start changing today to get you one step closer to fulfilling that dream? What can you start saying no to?

I’ll let you in on a little secret: You already have what it takes. Jump right in and learn as you go. Every day you’ll be one day closer to achieving your dream and living your version of happily ever after.
